中島レナは黒板にチョークを使用し、風景画を主に制作している黒板画家です。
2015年に高校の教室の黒板に描いた黒板アート作品がSNS上で話題となり、宮部みゆき著『過ぎ去りし王国の城』（KADOKAWA）の装画に抜擢されました。
黒板アートというジャンルの先駆者として表現方法や画材など試行錯誤しながら開拓し確立してきた作家独自の技法で描いた作品を是非お楽しみください。

” The heart that is imperfect, inefficient, to be beautiful.
In this exhibition I depicts the trial-and-error process of reaching my deeply buried true feelings. I use the soft chalk used in school classes.
Chalk quickly disappears when I try to make it fixed, and even the slightest adjustment during the process of creation can cause it to crumble.
If it is covered with a fixative or other substance, the chalk will not adhere and unintended shapes will be created.
I embrace these unexpected effects and incorporate them into my work.
Painting with chalk is delicate and unstable.
But at the same time, I see the rich potential of its ever-changing form, and “the power of constant rebirth” as a reflection of the human form, embracing them positively.
Although sometimes it may be difficult to preserve them, I hope that they will be loved including their unique characteristics and protected by people.” (Rena Nakajima)
Rena Nakajima is a chalkboard artist who primarily creates landscape paintings using chalk on blackboards.
In 2015, her chalkboard art, drawn on a high school classroom blackboard, became a hot topic on social media and was selected for the cover of a book by a renowned novelist.
As a pioneer of the blackboard art genre, she has developed and established her own unique techniques through trial and error in the areas of expression and materials, so please enjoy her works.
