For me, the dissonance between outward appearance and inner reality is a major theme that connects myself to the real world.

In this exhibition, I have attempted to create works that examine the gap between one’s own identity and how one is perceived by others and society. Through the objects worn by the figures and the things that reflect the self, I hope viewers will experience a lingering memory that evokes emotional memories.

Takumi Suzuki completed the Graduate School of Tama Art University, specializing in Japanese Painting. However, he does not confine himself to a particular genre; instead, he freely selects themes, motifs, materials, and techniques in accordance with his artistic concepts.

His works depict scenes that invite viewers into an extraordinary world through subtle feelings of discomfort hidden within everyday life and the contrast between the ordinary and the extraordinary. He also explores the relationships between self and others, as well as the desires that reside within himself. At times, these subjects are portrayed in an unsettling or even ugliness, yet by expressing the beauty and strength that he perceives within them, he attempts to reverse conventional values. In doing so, he presents the multifaceted nature of things that cannot be confined to a single interpretation.

His works connect with the personal memories and experiences of viewers, encouraging diverse interpretations unique to each individual. Please take this opportunity to taste his works.
