「私は縺れ（もつれ）というテーマを用いて、命（芸術）を表現することを目指しています。
墨を水中に垂らし、それが人の形に見えた瞬間に、絵画で表現すべきすべてが詰まっていると感じました。本展は、私が感じる美の肖像として「縺れの真影」というタイトルをつけました。何もなかった水中に墨が生まれ、やがて消えゆく只中にある奇跡的な瞬間をご覧ください。」（和田宙土）
和田宙土は、水中に落とした墨がほどけて溶けてゆく間の刹那に結ぶ像を、日本画の素材・技法を用いて絵画で再構築する画家です。これまで一貫して「縺れ」をテーマに作品を制作しています。
水中の墨が具象的な像となる一瞬が生まれては消える過程に、生命の始まりから終わりに通じる万物の理のようなものを感じ、それを絵画として残し永遠化することを自身が追求すべき作品制作の目的と捉え、試みます。
生と死や性別、日々の良い出来事や悪い出来事、美と醜など、人を取り巻く異なる要素の「縺れ」があるからこそ人は生き続けられ、美しく存在できるのではと、「縺れ」を自身の重要な制作のテーマとし、見た人が生きていく理由を考えるきっかけになるような、今を生きる人々のすぐ近くで寄り添う作品を描きたいと願っています。

“I aim to express life (art) using the theme of “Entanglement”.
The moment I dropped ink into water and it took on the shape of a human figure, I felt that everything I wanted to express in painting was contained within it. I titled this exhibition “True Image of Entanglement ” as a portrait of the beauty I perceive. Please witness the miraculous moment when ink is born in the clear water and then disappears.” (Hiroto Wada)
Hiroto Wada is a painter who uses the materials and techniques of Japanese painting to reconstruct the images that form in the fleeting moment as ink drops into water dissolves. His consistent theme of “Entanglement” has been his work to date.
In the process when the moment when ink in water becomes a concrete image is born and then vanishing, he senses a kind of principle of all things that include the beginning and the end of life, and he sees to preserves it as paintings and eternalization as the goal he should pursue in his own work and is trying to achieve it.
Believing that it is precisely because of this entanglement of the different elements that surround us – life and death, gender, the good and bad that happen in our daily lives, beauty and ugliness – that we are able to continue to live and exist beautifully, he has made entanglement an important theme in his work, and hopes to create works that accompany with people living today and inspire viewers to think about their reasons for living.
